Programmed drum MIDI for metal and post-hardcore. 60 patterns: 36 grooves and 24 fills, in six families of 6 grooves and 4 fills. 76 to 200 BPM.

PROGRAMMED, NOT PERFORMED

Every hit was written in code. These are not recordings of a drummer. Timing is on the grid, and the dynamics come from written velocities.

These files contain notes, not sound. Load your own drum instrument. There are no guitar or bass parts in this pack.

THE SIX FAMILIES

• Pocket and Riff Lock: 4/4, 98 to 122 BPM
• Post-Hardcore Drive: 4/4, 138 to 152 BPM
• Fast Metal and Double Kick: 4/4, 172 to 200 BPM, with left and right kick written as separate notes
• Half-Time and Breakdown: 4/4, 76 to 150 BPM
• Atmospheric Build: 6/8, 12/8 and 4/4, 82 to 120 BPM
• Progressive and Displaced: 7/8, 5/4, 6/4 and 4/4, 110 to 132 BPM

WHAT'S INCLUDED (180 MIDI files)

• 60 General MIDI files (36 grooves, 24 fills), one pattern per file
• The same 60 patterns again in two alternate note maps (60 + 60 files). These are not extra patterns
• Grooves are 2, 4 or 8 bars; fills are 1 or 2 bars
• File names show the time signature, BPM and length in bars
• Composition spec (SCORE.json, optional; not needed to use the MIDI)
• Pattern index, fill and groove pairing guide (English), drum map, quick-start guide in English and French, checksums, licence

DRUM MAPS

• General MIDI (the main version), drums on channel 10
• A Superior Drummer 3 / EZdrummer default map version: left kick (note 35) moved to 36, nothing else changed
• A GetGood Drums style version: left kick moved to 36 and crash-ride (note 59) moved to ride (51). GGD layouts differ between libraries, so check yours
• The two alternate maps were checked note by note against the GM files. They have not been tested in those plugins

FORMAT

Standard MIDI files, format 1, 960 PPQ. Drums on channel 10. Tempo is stored in quarter notes per minute, including the 6/8, 12/8 and 7/8 files. Not tested with specific DAWs or operating systems.

LICENCE

Use the MIDI files in your own music, commercial or not, with no further fees or credit, and edit them freely inside your works. You may not resell, share or redistribute the MIDI files themselves. Full terms: LICENSE.txt in the download.
