Preface

Like Father, like Son.

Whose Father Are We Talking About?

Whose Father?

We’re talking about Jesus’ Father; God, who is also known as Yahweh or Jehovah.

He called Himself,

I AM

And God said to Moses,

I AM THAT I AM:

(I will be what I will be)

and he said,

Tell the people of Israel,

I AM hath sent me unto you.

(Exodus 3:14)

God also told Moses, “Say to the Israelites,

the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob

‘The LORD, the God of your fathers

—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob—

has sent me to you.’

This is My name forever,

and this is how I am to be remembered in every generation.…

(Exodus 3:15)

Who Is The Son?

God’s Son, Jesus is also known by the name Yeshua. God declared Him His Son at His Baptism:

"The Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove,

and a voice came from heaven:

"You are my beloved Son,

in you I am well pleased."

(Luke 3:22)

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet (Psalm 2:7):

Today I have become your Father

I will tell of the decree:

Yahweh said to me, “You are my son.

Today I have become your father."

(Psalm 2:7 WEB)

God The Father And Jesus His Son are in the Bible

the #1 Bestselling Book Of All Ages

God wrote a book called ‘The Bible.’

Well, His prophets did. This book has been the #1 Bestselling book of all ages ever since it was written.

In this Bestselling book there are around eighty-eight writers, many of these prophets all sharing their revelations received from God.

The Bible Is Also Known As The Truth

When we read the Bible from the beginning till the very end, we discover how alike The Father and The Son are. We learn how both want a relationship with us. And we find out that both teach us how to love them and the people around us.

Apart from the Bible, also known as ‘The Truth,’ being the history of the Jewish people, the Bible also contains the most fascinating and intriguing true stories I’ve ever read.

It is filled with drama, conflict, true love, all kinds of affairs and historical figures and facts. The Bible is filled with real stories of real human beings who lived their lives well or badly and were often redeemed.

What I love about God’s Holy Word is that His Word fills the reader with hope and courage to do the right thing by ourselves as well as others. And we learn to never give up hope but always pray.

God’s inspiring Words have pulled me through many dark nights. My faith and His Word is what kept me alive.

God’s Word has restorative and transformative powers, it is the ultimate template for a life well lived.

But more than anything, God’s Holy Word shows us the way to true love and how to spread this love around wherever we go.

In the beginning of the Bible, we learn that God created the heavens and the earth and all that is within it, including people.

Because we were created in God’s image, we have free will.

Exercising our free will, it did not take long for us to make a mess of things, again and again and again.

God’s good nature keeps forgiving us endlessly and eventually He sent His Son down to set us an example of how He would like us to live our lives.

Jesus, God’s Son, features as the main hero in this amazing book of around 1200 pages. Ultimately Jesus’ life is sacrificed for our sake and the gift He left us with, is the gift of eternal life.

All we need to do to claim this gift is heed His messages and follow in His footsteps.

His Father, God had already told us how He would like us to live but few listened.

This is why I named this book ‘Like Father Like Son.’

Jesus, of Jewish heritage, simply repeats what His Father, through the prophets, has been telling His people for the last few thousand years.

The Gospel message is nothing new, it’s been there all along.

Love one and other

Beloved, I am not writing to you a new commandment,

but an old one,

which you have had from the beginning.

This commandment is the message you have heard.

This is the message you have heard from the beginning:

 We should love one another.

(1 John 3:11)

All we need to do to have a loving relationship with The Father, His Son and the people around us is pay attention to both of Them and follow their directions.

Intro

Like Father Like Son,

two peas in a pod,

spitting image.

We Are One

We are one

… as You, Father, are in Me,

and I am in You.

May they also be in Us,

so that the world may believe

that You sent Me.

I have given them the glory You gave Me,

so that they may be one as We are one.

(John 17:20-22)

I wrote this book because I hear people say that the God of the Jewish Bible is different from Jesus. People say that the God of the Jewish Bible is a wrathful God who doesn’t have grace, but Jesus does.

My intention with this book is to help people see and understand, by providing references from the Holy Word, how alike our Holy Father Yahweh and His Son Yeshua are.

I also hear people ask, ‘what kind of a God would send His own son down to die, to save a nation of belligerent people?’

That’s not what happened. God did not send His own son to die for a bunch of hostile people.

He sent His Son down as an example for all of us.

Every living soul can grab hold of the promises and decide to become part of the Good News.

What happened is that hostile and hypocritical people killed Jesus because His exemplary behaviour exposed their sins.

There are many reasons why the religious leaders wanted Jesus out of the way. Some of the reasons were that Jesus challenged their religious rules and way of life such as f.i. He healed people on Holy days (when people were supposed to be resting according to religious tradition).  Also He made claims (to be the Son of God) which outraged the religious leaders.

They plotted how to kill Him

the Pharisees went out

and plotted how they might kill Jesus

(Matt 12:14)

Jesus’ good behaviour and non-compliance to the status quo is what got Him crucified. That’s what happened.

WILL JESUS BLOOD WASH US CLEAN?

Jesus’ blood will wash us clean, only IF we decide to follow Him and live as He lived.

The blessings and promises are ours if we genuinely listen to our Father’s voice and follow Jesus in the way that He asks us to.
