How to Build an Automatic Sliding Gate with Arduino
IR Sensor Based Automatic Sliding Door | Code | Diagram | Connection Details
The IR Sensor Based Automatic Sliding Door is an Arduino-based electronics project designed to open and close a door automatically when a person or object is detected.
This project uses an Arduino UNO, IR obstacle detection sensor, continuous-rotation servo motor, LED, and buzzer. When the IR sensor detects an obstacle, it sends a signal to the Arduino. The Arduino activates the servo motor to open the door for a preset time. The buzzer and LED turn ON during the opening operation. After a programmed waiting period, the servo rotates in the opposite direction to close the door.
The opening time, closing time, and door-open delay can be adjusted easily in the Arduino program. This project demonstrates automation, sensor interfacing, motor control, and embedded programming.
Applications:
- Smart home automation models
- Automatic entrance door demonstrations
- School and college science exhibitions
- Arduino and robotics learning projects
- Basic contactless access systems
Components Used: Arduino UNO, IR sensor module, continuous-rotation servo motor, LED, 220Ω resistor, buzzer, jumper wires, and suitable power supply.
