Christmas Art Project Christmas Bunny Art Lesson Christmas Art Activity

In this Christmas Bunny Art Project, students create a winter scene of a white bunny in a snowy landscape, using oil pastel and paint to explore texture, shading and blending. It is a fun winter-themed project for the weeks leading up to Christmas.

Students experiment with oil pastels and resist painting, and the lesson also gives you a chance to bring storytelling and seasonal themes into your classroom. The finished artwork makes a calm, wintry classroom display.

HOW TO USE IT

Look over the lesson plan and gather your materials ahead of time: pencil, eraser, black marker, card stock or watercolor paper, oil pastels, paint brushes, water and watered-down paint for the background (any kind, such as tempera, acrylic or watercolor), plus a class set of the step-by-step drawing handout and rubric. You may want to make a sample yourself first so you can help students later.

Print the example in color and show it before the lesson as your hook. Then project the step-by-step pages from the PDF, show them under a document camera, or use them as your own guide while you demonstrate. Every step has a visual and a text description, so students can follow along clearly.
