Sudden Impact - Short Story

It’s a great day for hunting. Fresh snow, an empty sky, and the best dog in the world running circles around you.

Twenty minutes later you are face down under a fir tree, praying the bullets keep going over your head.

Perfect hunting weather.

Markus is out hunting in the lovely winter landscape with his trusted companion Bengt. When walking across a field toward a forest, he hears a series of gunshots being fired off and the sky becomes covered in bullets.

He comes back with a story that is in no record, anywhere. No bones in the field. No tracks. No shell casings. Even his own friends remember that day differently than he does. All he has to prove it is a bloodstained handkerchief with someone else’s initials stitched into the corner.

Is this for real or just another nightmare? Meeting strangers in the forest, along with metallic beasts, would screw up someone’s head… right?
