Late Sunshine

Lyrics and music by Emma Mutter

Lyrics:

Late sunshine

Can I store up some sun

For when I need you in the darker days to come

Your colours glowing saffron, amber and gold

Surround me, protect me from the cold

Teaching note -

The parts cross each other, with high harmony going below the main part and lower harmony going above at times. In the learning tracks for the separate parts, I've recorded once through, then each phrase twice, then all the way through again to aid learning.

The main part can be sung in unison quite happily, don't feel rushed to add the harmonies at the expense of enjoying the singing of it.

The rhythm is quite specific: the long notes/syllables linger and fade to evoke that lazy sunny warmth, but there's quite a tight overall rhythm, so e.g. 'your' of 'your colours' needs to be very short, barely there.

It's all quite lilt-y. Please always feel you can reach out if you need me to clarify something or do a slower version etc.
