Degüello Sunrise
Degüello Sunrise, created by John Robert Beck in 2006, transforms a charged moment in history into a powerful abstract composition. Inspired by the morning of March 6, 1836 - the fall of the Alamo - the artwork radiates with fiery oranges, burning golds, reds, and darker violet tones that create an atmosphere of heat, pressure, and impending conflict. Angular lines, translucent cubes, and layered textures move across the surface like signals, echoes, or advancing forces. The piece does not illustrate the event literally, but instead captures its emotional intensity, using color, structure, and motion to suggest the ominous presence of El Degüello and the drama of that fateful sunrise.
