The problem is ...
You feel helpless, you don't know how to help your young person revise
You feel frustrated that you can't take away the pressure of the exams
You are frightened of making things worse by trying to help
Hi, I'm Hayley
Last year when my daughter was studying for her GCSEs I recognised her levels of anxiety increasing and she would get frustrated easily.
In exasperation she would say "I don't know 'how' to revise"
She was aware that I helped my students prepare for exams, we explored some ways that she could use to help her recall the information she already had, learning ways to retrieve this information when she needed it.
Soon she was saying
"You need to come in to school and teach my friends how to revise"
Praise indeed from a 16 year old.
