I completely understand what you mean about ㄷ and ㅈ. This is one of the first pronunciation challenges many Korean learners experience. ㄱ can sound similar to ㅋ, ㄷ to ㅌ, and ㅈ to ㅊ, especially to English speakers. The ㄹ sound can be confusing for the same reason.

These Korean sounds don’t match English sounds exactly, so writing ㄷ as “d” and ㅈ as “j” is only an approximate guide—not an exact representation of their pronunciation. As you listen to and speak more Korean, you’ll gradually begin to hear and produce the differences more naturally.
