Spellbinding Sylvie: Filling her Lungs Deeply with Smoke

I remember the shoot with Sylvie vividly. She arrived at our meeting spot right on time and was already smoking her first cigarette of the day. Eager to capture the moment, I quickly reached for my camera and managed to film her in the final seconds of finishing that significant cigarette.

Interestingly, Sylvie has a smoking fascination of her own. In our final scene, we include a conversation with her about this theme in general and her attention to men who smoke. She recalls her first cigarette clearly—how she despised it because it made her feel dizzy and sick. Yet, she wasn’t discouraged. She continued smoking socially until the age of nineteen, when it developed into a full-time habit. All these details and more appear in her interview segment.

Sylvie is stylish, beautiful, and effortlessly alluring, and smoking seems to heighten that sophistication. The camera does a lot of the storytelling here, capturing her walking and smoking as sunlight frames the drifting smoke. There are some striking close-up shots where she lets the smoke drift naturally from her lips after drawing it deep into her lungs, revealing her poise and magnetism as she savours each cigarette.
