Cape May Birding Itinerary
This birding itinerary explores the full range of Cape May’s fall migration, one of North America’s most famous birding destinations and a major funnel for southbound songbirds, raptors, seabirds, and waterfowl. Over three to six days, birders move between Higbee Beach and Cape May Point, the Avalon and Stone Harbor coast, the marshes of Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge, and inland woodland hotspots such as Cox Hall Creek and Belleplain State Forest. Designed around migration timing, wind direction, and habitat diversity, it combines famous migration watchpoints, coastal flats, salt marshes, woodland migrant traps, and refuge impoundments to give birders an efficient way to experience the best of Cape May in fall.
