The angular forms of plants and the precise geometry with which many of them grow is a constant source of wonder and inspiration. Washingtonia is the name for several types of palm trees which have a lovely repetitive quality to their fronds.

This asymmetrical triangular shawl begins small and may be adapted for any gauge or weight of yarn.

100% Superwash Merino wool; 560 yd/8 oz (512m/225g) skeins 

1 skein, shown in Earl Grey

Or approximately 550 yards/500 meters of sport weight yarn.

Needles 

US 5 3.75mm circular needles, 24”/60cm or longer, or size to obtain gauge


Gauge 

Blocked: 20 stitches and 32 rows = 4”/10cm in garter stitch

Gauge is not crucial for this project, but will affect yardage and finished size if different from above.
