Question 7: Let’s take this conversation deeper into the experiences of Black men, the Black community, and relationships/marriage.

Everything you mentioned about the root fractures and generational shifts feels especially true for the Black community in the UK and globally. Black men rejecting the system is often a response to discrimination and the lack of privileges afforded to other racial groups. It makes sense that many are trying new models to succeed, as the system has historically eroded Black identities—particularly since the Windrush generation.

Millennial Black men are now tasked with rebuilding, despite inheriting little emotional, mental, spiritual, and financial stability from previous generations. And while many strive to be better than their fathers, some (not me) are carrying deep wounds, unintentionally creating broken family mindsets before they’ve even started their own families.
