The Fiery Furnace Made Simple
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego — three young Hebrew exiles in Babylon — refuse to bow to Nebuchadnezzar's golden image and are thrown into a furnace heated seven times hotter. Inside the flames they find they are not alone: the Fourth Man, “like the Son of God,” walks with them, loose and unhurt. They come out without even the smell of smoke (Daniel 3).
The Fiery Furnace Made Simple is a Bible-first walk through Daniel 3 and the theology of the fire: the resolve made before the test, the “but if not” faith that does not negotiate, the refiner's fire of Malachi, the Holy Spirit who alone gives courage and freedom, and the promise that God is present in every furnace — even when the fire does not go out.
Explicitly Trinitarian: God the Father who ordains the deliverance; Jesus Christ — Son of God and Son of Man, Lord and Savior — the Fourth Man who stood in the fire before He was born in Bethlehem; and the Holy Spirit, who alone gives the courage to stand and the power to walk free. Every prayer is to the Father, through Jesus Christ, by the Holy Spirit.
Read one chapter a day. Come honest. Read slowly. Stand firm.
