Groundbreaking ceremony for new hotel at Hollywood Casino Columbus

 PEN Entertainment, Inc. PEN Entertainment announced that it will hold a new hotel groundbreaking ceremony at Hollywood Casino - Columbus on November 28, 2023 at 1 p.m. ET.

"We are excited to soon start building a new, state-of-the-art hotel in Hollywood Casino Columbus," said Jay Snowden, CEO and president of PEN Entertainment. "Since opening in 2012, our Columbus real estate has experienced tremendous growth, and adding a hotel to Hollywood Casino Columbus will make it a true local destination."

The hotel, which is expected to have a budget of about $100 million, will be attached to the existing building and will add hundreds of construction jobs and about 100 new permanent jobs upon opening. It is expected to include 180 rooms, conference space, additional restaurants, and local partnerships and amenities to be announced later.

The new hotel is part of a previously announced plan that consists of four new growth projects, including a new land casino in Aurora and Joliet, Illinois, and an additional hotel tower in Henderson, Nevada. The city of Aurora will provide $50 million in funding for the project there, and Gaming and Leisure Properties Inc. has pledged up to $575 million for an overall budget of $850 million for four growth projects.
