A micronova is a small stellar explosion, a millionth of the strength of a typical nova. This phenomenon was first described while I was working on this pattern, and it seemed like a suitable name for socks with many small starbursts.

The pattern assumes familiarity with stranded colourwork and basic cuff-down sock construction techniques.

You’ll want to have 100 g of your main colour available as well as 50 g of your contrast colour.

Four sizes are included:
Small (60 stitch cuff, to fit approximately 7 inch foot)
Medium (68 stitch cuff, to fit approximately 8 inch foot)
Large (76 stitch cuff, to fit approximately 9 inch foot)
Extra Large (84 stitch cuff, to fit approximately 10 inch foot)

These fit just a bit tighter than a stockinette sock with the same stitch count, since you adjust your gauge for the colourwork.

If you’re printing the pattern in black and white, you’ll want to make note of the highlighted portions of the chart.
