Christmas Craft Stocking Craft Writing Prompt Worksheets Sub Plans Art Lesson
In this Christmas Stocking Craft and Write, students follow a tutorial to make a Christmas stocking craft, then add their own artistic flavor with the various cut-and-glue elements included, so every stocking is unique. Afterwards, they complete fiction or non-fiction writing inspired by their craft, and finish with coloring, reflections and a 3 Stars and a Wish.
The adaptable templates suit grades 1 to 5, and the craft is inspired by the style of the Ms Artastic YouTube Channel. Photocopy the elements, put a few out at each table for students to choose from, and save the unused pieces with your lesson plan for next year, for less prep and less waste.

HOW TO USE IT
Start with the warm-up drawing challenge and the theme reading. Students then build their stocking from the templates and elements, choosing the pieces they want. Use the planning and prompt pages for fiction or non-fiction writing about the craft, or the blank pages for open writing, and wrap up with peer feedback, the rubric and 3 Stars and a Wish.
It can be a quick activity or a more detailed project, and it is a low-prep option when you are short on art supplies and time.
WHAT STUDENTS LEARN
Students practice drawing and crafting, make their own design choices, and connect their craft to writing. The fiction and non-fiction pages build critical thinking, language development and imaginative storytelling, while the reflections help them think about their work and winter traditions.
