Marine mechanic Ivo Calder has spent years protecting Amber Falls’ free public boat launch. When a trailer wheel drops into a washed-out edge, the town hires surveyor Felix Navarro to decide whether the failing bank can support repairs. Ivo expects a stranger with a report.
