The Clock Tower in Edessa was for decades, apart from its famous waterfalls, a symbol of the city. Especially in the early years of its operation, when its importance in people's daily lives was really crucial as most people had no other way of knowing the time at any moment of the day, it was a reference point. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century (1906-1907), with a base made of ironstone and the rest of the building made of gunmetal. Its shape is reminiscent of a medieval tower, while on the north side, there is a built-in plaque with the name of the master builder Konstantinos Zisis, who was in charge of the construction with his brothers.
