Knitting Pattern Digital Download: Inside Down and Upside Out Hat
Inspired by the music and videos of OK Go, which often use optical illusion, pattern, stripes, and movement to achieve mesmerizing works of art well-aligned with their equally clever and energetic music, I wanted to create a hat that evoked that same energy. The yarn itself has energy from the high twist and lively colours, but I wanted to add more. Using short rows to tilt the knitting to different angles allows for interesting effects and it in turn reminded me of OK Go's song Upside Down and Inside Out as I turned the work back and forth. This type of play with the angles shows off multicolor yarns to good effect, and the 1x1 ribbing not only allows for a stretchy comfortable fit, but adds a textural striping effect.
Finished measurements: 13½ (14¾, 16¼)" [34.5 (37.5, 41.5)cm] head circumference, unstretched.
To fit 19 (21, 23)" [48.5 (53.5, 58.5)cm] head circumference, with significant stretch in the fabric.
