If you’ve been seeking a new adventure in stranded knitting, then look no further! The Quince Blossom Cowl uses a combination of stranded colourwork and woven stitches, for a stunning effect that is sure to intrigue your knitting friends.

Knit in DK weight yarn, the stranded motifs are striking and unusual. Challenge yourself with a new woven stitch technique and enjoy the textured play of both flat and textured contrast colour. Quince Blossom really has the wow factor!

The perfect accessory for cold weather, this cowl is super-cosy, thanks to its double-layer construction. Quince Blossom’s coloured inner layer combines with the graphic detailed outer layer to produce an heirloom piece that will be treasured for years to come.

Get the Look
The inner layer hides floats for a super tidy look…and reversibility. The cowl can be worn as a long loop to show off the tesselated effect, or doubled to wear as an extra cosy accessory.

Alternatively, cast on fewer stitches (in multiples of 12), to make a shorter cowl that sits close to the neck.

Construction
The inner layer is in plain stocking stitch, while the outer layer features stranded colourwork floral motifs, sitting in lattice formed by stranding the pink yarn on the front of the fabric. A picot edging at the top and bottom completes the design.

Beginning with a provisional cast on, the scarf is worked in the round. The edgings, outer layer and lining (inner layer) are knit as a single piece. The piece is then grafted together to form an invisible seam on the inner layer.

Yarn
Use any DK weight yarn, approx. 390 yards/360m MC and 380 yards/350m CC.
Sample shown in Erika Knight British Blue 100 DK, 2 skeins each in Clarissa (600) and Ballet Russes (606).
