Human Rainbow

One of the most beautiful questions a child will 

ever ask is, ‘Why do people have different colored skin?’ Tragically, 

human history has used these differences to divide us. But science and 

geography tell a completely different, unifying story. Skin color is a 

biological adaptation to the sun — a historical footprint showing where 

our ancient ancestors lived. By teaching the science of climate and 

melanin, we hope to help our children build a lasting foundation against 

prejudice and to see that we are all part of one human family, 

wonderfully adapted to the places our ancestors called home.
