Pattern for knitting New Grass Cowl by Anna Morwen

This cowl is part of the accessories collection “New Grass'’. It’s worked in the round, starting and finishing with simple ribbing 1х1, using left and right cross cables to recreate a tender texture of sprouts of new spring grass. The pattern is very friendly to beginners, contains clear and full instructions and links to video tutorials.

Yarn: DK/light worsted

The sample was knitted with Drops Karisma (100% superwash wool)

Meterage/yardage:

200 m per 100 gr/218 yds per 3,5 oz (#45 Light Olive as MC and #73 Petrol as CC)

* if using 1 color:

-size 1 - 71 gr/2.5 oz, or 142 m/155 yds

-size 2 - 88 gr/3.1 oz, or 176 m/192 yds

-size 3 - 105 gr/3.7 oz, or 210 m/229 yds

*if using 2 colors:

-size 1: - MC 55 gr/2 oz, or 110 m/120 yds

- CC 16 gr/0.5 oz, or 32 m/34 yds

-size 2: -MC 70 gr/2.5 oz, or 140 m/153 yds

-CC 18 gr/0.63 oz, or 36 m/39 yds

-size 3: -MC 86 gr/3 oz, or 172 m/188 yds

Needles: circular needles of size 4.5 mm/US7/UK7 and 5 mm/US8/UK6 of your preferred length.

Gauge: 19.6 sts and 24.5 rnds in 10 cm/19.82 sts and 24.8 rnds in 4” in the pattern in the round with needles 5 mm/US8/UK6 after blocking

Why is my gauge so precise?

I believe that the most accurate method to determine the gauge is to measure the whole length and width of the blocked swatch and to divide each value accordingly to the amount of the stitches and rows/rounds that you made to create your swatch. In this case, you will get fractions. Rounding these fractions to smaller or bigger whole numbers will lead to inaccurate measurements of the finished object. Only the sum of all the stitches and rows/rounds used to make an object could be rounded to maximum half of the whole number.
