Trading With the Trend Explained — Measured (PDF Guide)
"Trade with the trend" is the first thing anybody tells you and the last thing anybody tests. You have followed it, you have broken it, and you have no way of knowing whether either made a difference - because the advice arrives without a number attached and it always has.
Here is the number. 677 aligned cases and 418 against, raced identically, each against its own control. And then a second measurement the race cannot see: how far price ran when it worked, which is the only place in this wave where alignment does something. This is a 38-page PDF that teaches Trading With the Trend from the first thing you see on the screen through to a written strategy with an entry, a stop and an explicit rule for when the trade is wrong.
Nothing is taught underneath a chart. Every label sits on the candle, the line or the level it is describing, on real BTC, ETH, SOL and LINK charts. There are three quizzes on real charts, each followed by the same chart re-shown annotated with the reasoning, plus faded practice pages where the first steps are filled in and you finish the rest.
WHAT'S INSIDE
What alignment is worth, measured - +5.34 points aligned against +1.89 against, a gap of 3.45 points, at z 2.78 against a corrected bar of 3.023.
The one place something does differ - How FAR price ran. 4.134 average true ranges on aligned breaks against 3.198, 29 per cent further. Descriptive, with no significance test attached, and reported as exactly that.
Why 'the trend' has to be defined first - Three standard definitions agree on 51.19 per cent of bars, and none of them predicts. Guide #55 of this series measured that.
The seven measurement errors this wave made and caught - Including one that scored 96.43 per cent and one that was the only result in the wave to survive correction. Both were bugs.
How the whole wave came out - 20 direction tests, about 21,000 cases, a corrected bar of 3.023, and nothing survives. Across three waves: 51 tests, one borderline survivor, pointing the wrong way.
WHAT YOU'LL BE ABLE TO DO
Say what trend alignment is worth, with a number and a control.
Tell a hit rate from a distance, and know which one you need.
Spot the three kinds of hindsight that inflate a result.
Read a whole wave of null results without concluding nothing works.
Re-run any measurement in this series yourself.
AN HONEST NOTE
A trend is a clue, not a crystal ball. It describes what price has already done. This guide contains no win-rates, no backtest results and no promises about what you will make, because nobody can verify those and you should not trust anyone who prints them. What it hands you instead is a set of rules you can test yourself on TradingView in an afternoon. Educational, not financial advice.
