Hide two wheeled bins behind something that actually looks good. This 72 inch enclosure takes two FULL-SIZE 96 gallon carts. Lift the hinged lid to drop the rubbish in, and open the double front doors to roll a full cart straight out.

DIGITAL PLAN (PDF) - this is a downloadable build plan, not a physical product.

FINISHED SIZE

72" W x 41" D x 49 1/4" H. The inside is 63 1/2 inches wide and 37 1/4 inches deep, with 45 inches of clear height under the head board and 47 3/4 inches under the lid. The doors open to a clear 63 1/2 x 45 inch hole with nothing across the bottom, so a loaded cart rolls straight out. Build notes show how to cut it down to a 40 inch single-bin version.

Fits two standard 95-96 gallon wheeled carts up to 30 1/4" wide, 36" deep and 44" tall. Carts vary by brand and city - measure yours before you buy lumber.

SKILL LEVEL

Beginner. Every cut is square - no angles, no joinery. Mitre saw or circular saw, drill, sander.

BUILD TIME AND COST

8 to 9 hours. About $260-360 in lumber and hardware in the US. Most of that is the 1x6 cladding and doors - about 150 linear feet of it - so cedar fence pickets are the cheap way to buy it.

WHY THIS PLAN

Every part in this plan was modelled in 3D and machine checked for fit before it was drawn, so the parts actually assemble. Two full-size cart models were pushed into the 3D model to check that they fit side by side, that their own lids can still swing past upright inside the enclosure, and that a loaded cart can be rolled out through the front doors. Measurements use ACTUAL lumber sizes, not nominal - a 2x4 is drawn as 1 1/2 x 3 1/2.
