Understanding My Neurodivergent Child Well-being Toolkit
Understanding My Child
The Neurodivergent Family Wellbeing Toolkit
Understand their world. Discover what helps.
Does your child struggle with big emotions, sensory overwhelm, school difficulties or everyday changes?
Do you sometimes find yourself wondering what’s happening beneath their behaviour, or how best to support them?
You don’t need to have all the answers. You just need somewhere to start.
Understanding My Child is a practical, compassionate 39-page digital toolkit designed to help parents and carers better understand their neurodivergent child’s individual needs, experiences and strengths.
Created by Wellbeing Co. as part of our Wonderfully Wired collection, this resource brings together professional wellbeing experience and real-life parenting insight.
What will this toolkit help you explore?
🌿 Understand behaviour and overwhelm
Look beyond what you see to explore what your child might be experiencing and needing.
🌿 Discover their sensory world
Identify sensory preferences, challenges and everyday situations that may feel overwhelming.
🌿 Recognise their nervous system needs
Explore energy levels, early signs of overwhelm and what helps your child feel supported.
🌿 Make after-school life easier to navigate
Work together to identify what your child needs after a demanding school day.
🌿 Create personalised support plans
Build practical regulation menus, communication tools and support plans based on your child’s needs.
🌿 Feel more prepared for school conversations
Record observations, explore school-related difficulties and create a wellbeing profile you can share with the people supporting your child.
More than a workbook
Inside, you’ll find thoughtful explanations, child-friendly activities, printable worksheets, reflection pages and practical tools to complete together.
Your child can draw, write, colour, point or talk. There’s no pressure to complete everything at once.
This isn’t about changing who your child is. It’s about understanding them better.
Who is it for?
Parents and carers of neurodivergent or potentially neurodivergent children, approximately aged 5–11.
Whether you’re just beginning to explore your child’s differences, waiting for assessment, or looking for more practical ways to support them, this toolkit offers a gentle place to begin.
You don’t need to wait for a diagnosis to start understanding your child.
Created with professional knowledge and lived experience
I’m Sarah, founder of Wellbeing Co. and creator of Wonderfully Wired.
For over 15 years, I’ve worked in mental health and wellbeing, supporting children, families and communities. I’m also a mum whose own family journey through neurodivergence has shaped my understanding of the challenges families can face.
I created this resource because I know how valuable it can be to have something practical, supportive and reassuring to turn to.
My hope is that it helps your family feel more informed, more connected and more confident in discovering what works for your child.
