This St. Patrick's Day Roll and Draw resource is a low-prep directed drawing game for elementary classrooms and homeschool. Students roll a die and follow the drawing prompts, adding one part of the picture with each roll, so every artwork turns out different.

The games feature shamrocks, leprechauns, rainbows, pots of gold, horseshoes and other lucky themes. Students practice drawing, creativity and visual problem solving while playing, and the pages work well for March art lessons, centers, early finishers and sub plans.

HOW TO USE IT

Print the Roll and Draw game page for each student and give them a pencil, eraser and drawing materials such as markers, crayons or colored pencils. Each student or group needs one standard six-sided die. Students can work on their own, with partners or share dice at their tables. You can also display the game sheet on the board or projector and print extra pages for students who want to play again.

Students roll the die, find the number on the chart and draw the matching part of the picture. They keep rolling until the drawing is complete, then color it and add backgrounds or details to make it their own.
