WHAT TEACHERS ARE SAYING

★★★★ “This poppy art project was a wonderful classroom activity for Remembrance Day. It gave students a creative way to learn about the significance of the poppy while showing respect and appreciation for our veterans. The activity was engaging, easy to use, and resulted in beautiful artwork that students were proud to display. A great addition to any Remembrance Day lesson!” Nicole A.

"Lest We Forget" is a reflective Remembrance Day art project that is low stress and mess-free. Using felt marker painting, directed drawing and pencil crayon shading, students create a symbolic art piece featuring the message "Lest We Forget" while they pause, reflect and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

HOW TO USE IT

Look over the lesson plan and gather your materials ahead of time: pencil, eraser, black felt, card stock or watercolor paper, pencil crayons, washable felt markers, a paintbrush and water, plus a class set of the step-by-step drawing handout and rubric. You may want to make a sample yourself first so you can help students later.

Print the example in color and show it before the lesson as your hook. Then project the step-by-step pages from the PDF, show them under a document camera, or use them as your own guide while you demonstrate. Every step has both a visual and a text description, so students can follow along clearly.
