Your Monday reading, done before you wake up. One AI-filtered brief from the feeds you already trust — you read 10 items, not 150.

A pre-built agent for any operator or founder drowning in feeds: every Monday it reads your industry's newsletters and blogs, throws away the noise and the duplicates, and delivers one short brief filtered by what YOU care about.

You're not short on information. You're drowning in it: newsletters you skim, Hacker News you doomscroll, blogs you meant to read.

The Industry Reader is a Monday-morning cron job for Hermes Agent (the open-source agent by Nous Research). The architecture is four moves: fetch your feeds (free RSS — no data costs, no API keys), dedupe against everything it's already shown you, filter through your personal "what matters to me" prompt, and deliver one brief to your Discord or Telegram. A "seen list" guarantees nothing ever repeats.

Our receipt: our own Monday run (July 6) pulled 143 items from 7 free sources, deduped them to 88 new, and distilled those to a 7-signal brief. Data cost: $0 — every feed is keyless RSS, and the model ran on a flat-rate subscription we already pay for.

The setup is about 30 minutes if Hermes is already running (if it isn't, grab our free guide "Your First Agent in 30 Minutes" first). The fetcher script ships in this download with zero dependencies, tested live before release. And if you don't use Hermes: the same three files work in Claude Code — the variant is included.

Honest scope: this reads and summarizes weekly. It doesn't post, trade, or alert in real time. It also includes the honest version of the "sell it" angle — every niche has drowning operators, and a weekly industry-brief service is this exact agent pointed at someone else's feed list.

What's inside:

  • The designed PDF — 10-page field guide, from source list to your first Monday brief, plus the tuning guide and the run-it-or-sell-it playbook
  • fetch-feeds.py — the fetcher with the seen-list memory; pure Python standard library, tested live, one dead feed never kills the run
  • sources.txt — starter source list with the feed-URL cheat sheet (Substack, blogs, filtered Hacker News, Reddit, YouTube)
  • filter-prompt.md — the "what matters to me" template; the file that turns a firehose into YOUR brief
  • industry-reader.md — the paste-ready cron prompt + verified cron commands + troubleshooting
  • claude-code-variant.md — the same agent on Claude Code, for the Hermes-less
  • Living Notion version + free lifetime updates — re-tested against each Hermes release
