US 8 (5 mm) 40 inch or longer circular needles
US 9 (5.5 mm) 40 inch or longer circular needles (used for cast on only)
stitch markers, if desired

knit cast on
knit 2 together, slip slip knit, and slip 1-knit 2 together-pass slipped stitch over decreases
yarn overs
