The Seven Veils of Mystery in Bizarre Magic - Audio Lecture

THE SEVEN VEILS OF MYSTERY IN BIZARRE MAGIC

A Mini Audio Lecture by Alexander Beresford

Two performers can use the same prop, the same method, same story, even the same script.

And yet one feels like a magic trick ... while the other feels like something actually happened.

Why?

Inspired by ideas explored by Juan Tamariz, this mini audio lecture takes seven qualities that often separate competent magic from genuinely affecting magic, and brings them into the strange world of bizarre magic, spirit theatre and mystery performance.

This is all about the things the audience may never consciously notice ... but somehow feels.

• Love of mystery.
• The invisible work behind the performance.
• Knowledge and wisdom.
• Presence and energy.
• Truth beneath the fiction.
• The inner world you bring to your magic.

And perhaps most importantly...

• Your relationship with the people you're taking into the darkness with you.

Why does an old photograph feel like a magic prop in one performer's hands and like a genuine artifact in another's?

Why can a completely fictional ghost story still contain something absolutely true?

Why should you know far more about your story than you'll ever tell the audience?

And why might caring about your audience actually allow you to take them somewhere darker?

That's what The Seven Veils of Mystery in Bizarre Magic is about.

A short, thought-provoking audio lecture for bizarre magicians, mentalists, storytellers and performers who want their magic to leave behind something more than the memory of a clever trick.

Listen to it tonight. Then look at one of your own routines again.
