A firsthand account from the front lines of the war against ISIS in northern Syria.

Rojava War Diary draws from my personal recollections and recorded interviews about my time with the YPG in Rojava. It preserves the confusion, fear, friendships, exhaustion, and intensity of experiences remembered years later—from life among international volunteers to combat on the front lines.

This edition is built around primary-source testimony. Where possible, my recollections are placed alongside independent reporting and historical sources, while memories, allegations, and independently verified facts are clearly distinguished.

This is not a polished war story written to make combat heroic. It is an attempt to preserve what I remember, including uncertainty and contradiction, before those memories disappear.
