Loon's Dog Sweater Pattern
It’s time to keep your furry friends extra cozy this season! This sweater is crocheted in one piece with five adjustable sizes to choose from. So whether you have the cutest little chihuahua or an adorable, beefy mastiff you can make the perfect sweater for them!
Materials: Light worsted weight yarn, crochet hook, tapestry/darning needle, two to three 5/8” – 1” buttons, a doggo!
Skill Level: Intermediate
Techniques: Half double crochet, foundation crochet stitch (optional), crocheting flat, crocheting in the round, slip stitch to join (tutorial included)
Construction: Crocheted seamless in one piece, from the neck down
Suggested Hook: US I-9 (5.5mm)
Gauge: 12 hdc x 9 rows = 4” x 4”
Yarn: I highly recommend light worsted weight cotton, superwash wool, acrylic, or any fibers you don’t mind washing regularly. These fibers are typically easier to care for (i.e. machine washable), but be sure to follow your yarn label’s care instructions!
Sizing: Extra Small (Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large)
Grams/Yardage Required:
50 (80, 150, 240, 300) grams
100 (160, 300, 480, 600) yards
If combining sizes, additional yardage may be needed.
Neck Circumference: 9 (11, 13, 17, 20) inches
Chest Circumference: 11 (14, 22, 29, 39) inches
Length, from base of neck to start of tail: 8 (12, 16, 20, 24) inches
Choose your starting size based on your dog’s neck circumference. If your dog is between sizes, choose the larger size! Choose your yardage requirements based on the size that corresponds with your dog’s largest measurement (whether that be neck, chest, or length!)
Chest circumference and sweater length can be customized to fit your pup as you go. Instructions for these customizations are included throughout the pattern.
