Behind the Behavior: The Trauma Informed Parenting Bundle
You have read the books. You have tried the sticker chart, the calm voice, the consequence that worked for your other kids and does nothing for this one.
This bundle is the part in between knowing that behavior is communication and actually doing something about it at 6pm on a Tuesday.
WHO MADE THIS
I am Audra, a licensed foster parent for twelve years and more than one hundred placements. I have also been a MAPP instructor and on staff at a foster care agency, which means I have watched a lot of brand new parents get handed a child and a phone number and very little else. I built these because I needed them myself, on the days when I had run out of both ideas and patience.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
Trauma-Informed Discipline Toolkit, 56 printable pages, normally $19.99
Six sections, in the order a hard moment actually unfolds:
- Understanding behavior. Behavior is communication, the brain under stress, trauma versus defiance, and a worksheet for mapping your own child's triggers.
- Before behavior happens. Daily connection tracker, regulation check, prevention planning worksheet, sensory needs checklist.
- During difficult moments. Pause before you respond, what does my child need right now, co-regulation checklist, calm-down plan.
- Teaching instead of punishing. Natural versus logical consequences, repair after conflict, problem solving together, replacement skills.
- Positive discipline tools. Behavior detective worksheet, ABC behavior chart, win tracker, celebration journal.
- Caregiver reflection. How did I respond, my regulation plan, compassion reminder, weekly reflection. This section is for you, not for your child.
Plus a full set of printable tools to hang on the wall today: calm corner ideas, feeling thermometer, body signals chart, coping skills menu, choice board, I need a break card, family agreements, house expectations, emotions check-in wheel, weekly behavior reflection, what not to say and what to say instead, and a page on when and how to add a therapist.
Behaviors That Communicate, 10 cut apart cards, normally $9.99, yours free.
This printable PDF can also be used digitally on your iPad—no printer required. Simply import the PDF into Goodnotes, Notability, or another PDF annotation app and write directly on the pages using an Apple Pencil or compatible stylus. Add handwritten notes, check boxes, highlight information, and complete worksheets right on your screen. Prefer paper? Print the entire PDF or only the pages you need and add them to your binder. One purchase gives you the flexibility to use it digitally or in print. PDF annotation app, compatible device, and stylus are not included. This is a standard PDF and does not include digital planner features such as hyperlinks or tabs.
One behavior per card: lies, steals, hoards food, refuses, shuts down, controls everything, melts down, runs away, rejects affection, becomes aggressive. Each card names nine things that may be underneath the behavior and gives four specific strategies to try instead. Made to live on the fridge or go in the hands of a babysitter, a respite family or a grandparent who needs the short version without a training.
WHO IT'S FOR
Foster, kinship and adoptive parents who already believe connection matters and want the practical version. Works roughly ages four through the teen years. Some pages skew young, like the feeling thermometer and calm corner. Others skew older, like problem solving together and family agreements. Most families use part of it now and come back for the rest later.
This is not a compliance system for making a child obey faster, and it is not therapy or a diagnosis. It is a caregiver resource, and it includes a page on bringing in professional support.
HOW TO USE IT
Download, print on regular letter size paper, and start with one page. Most people start with My Child's Triggers or Pause Before You Respond. The cards cut apart along a dotted line and hold up better on cardstock if you have it, though plain paper works fine.
One honest note: the toolkit has a bonus quick reference section covering seven behaviors, and five of those also appear in the card set. The cards cover five behaviors the toolkit does not touch at all, and they are a different format, meant to be grabbed in the moment rather than sat down with. If you already own one of these two products, buy the other one on its own instead of the bundle.
