The Eagle's Tales: When The Eagle Was Born

Long before Nigeria became an independent country, many peoples, communities and kingdoms already called this land home.

In this first Eagle's Tale, the Eagle looks back across the long journey that brought Nigeria to independence, from ancient communities and colonial rule to the voices that called for self-government and the historic day of 1 October 1960.

Meet the people, places and moments that helped shape a new nation.

The journey began long before the flag was raised.
