Vanish — Delete Your Personal Information From the Internet (Mac)
Search your own name right now. Your home address, your phone number, your age and a list of your relatives are sitting on pages you never signed up for.
Dozens of companies called data brokers buy public records and app data, assemble a profile of you, and publish it. California law gives you the right to demand deletion — but each broker buries its own opt-out process, and doing it by hand takes an afternoon per person.
Vanish does that work.
WHAT IT DOES
- Finds it. Searches your name against every city you have lived in, every email address and every phone number, then checks 54 known data brokers one by one and captures the exact URL of each listing.
- Writes the legal demand. For every broker that accepts email, it composes a CCPA/CPRA deletion request citing the specific statute, attaches the listing URLs so they cannot claim they could not find the record, and demands written confirmation inside the 45-day window.
- Sends it from your own address. Brokers reject third-party requests. Vanish sends from your mailbox, spaced out, after you confirm.
- Proves it worked. Re-check Removals revisits every listing later and reports which have actually come down.
- Checks breach exposure. Shows which known data breaches your email addresses appear in and exactly what leaked. (Optional, needs a Have I Been Pwned key.)
SEE WHAT IS OUT THERE BEFORE YOU PAY
The scan is free. Install it, run it, and look at the list. Only pay if there is something worth removing.
HONEST ABOUT THE LIMITS
- Some records are public by law — court filings, property records, corporate registrations. Nothing can delete those, and any product claiming otherwise is lying.
- - Listings come back. Brokers rebuild from upstream feeds, so re-run the scan every couple of months.
- - When a site blocks the check, Vanish reports it as unknown, never as clean.
- - It never submits web forms for you and never uploads identity documents.
