★ This book is about a little girl who encounters something in her life that makes her very fearful and she must choose between trusting God or giving into the fear that she is feeling. I would recommend that parents read this book though before reading it to your children, as some parents may not feel the story is appropriate for their little ones as it deals with a little girl named Claudia who while out playing, comes in contact with some people who want to invade her town. She is scared but remembers that she was taught to pray and trust in God. Claudia will need to decide if she will choose to pray, trust God and help the people in her town. What choice will she make, and will it make a difference in her life and the lives of others? I believe God can use this story to help other children trust him when they are living in these situations on a daily basis, as violence is a way of life for many who do not know God. I loved how it teaches a very personal message about prayer and trusting God and how important it is to teach our children about the importance of prayer and trust in God who is the only one who can give complete peace when your trust is put in him alone. I also liked how very colorful the pictures are which helps the children stay interested in the story and more importantly, the lesson of prayer. I would highly recommend this book in certain situations where it could be very helpful and used by God.

★ At first, I thought the content was heavy for a kid, however, when I consider what kids are exposed to nowadays, I changed my mind. Kids are being victims of school shootings, or at least hearing about them. Kids are exposed to violence in their homes, theirs schools, their communities, on tv, on video games. Kids today, have to deal with so much fear and violence. I think this book really teaches how to pray when one feels scared. It teaches how to rebuke evil, and put one's trust in God. It teaches kids how to pray for themselves as well as others. There is so much kids can learn from this book. This book is a tool that kids can use for the rest of their lives, it teaches them how to overcome fear and trust in God. That is something everyone needs to learn. I can't wait to read this to my granddaughter.

I especially enjoyed at the back of the book the Hebrews II chapter. It’s so convenient to be able to read one of the verses and then refer to a section in the story where that verse is applicable. Thus Overcomers is not only a story for young children but also a lesson book.
