+++This is a measure and cut pattern which means that there are NO TEMPLATES to print off and match up- Yay! You need a rotary cutter, ruler and mat and you can cut the pattern pieces straight from the fabric. This is easier than it sounds because the pieces are all simple squares and rectangles.
All measurements are in INCHES.
A good sized (but not too big) clutch bag is a really stylish addition to an outfit. This versatile bag can be used as a handbag or purse or even as the cutest storage bag for at home. Nicely padded and with a strong wrist strap, the Bakersfield Clutch is perfect elegance for on the go and it can take you from day to evening in the blink of an eye.
Pattern Rating: intermediate bag maker; some assumed knowledge of techniques.
Finished Size: 10 ½” wide x 8” tall x 1” deep
Suggested Fabrics: quilting weight cotton, denim, canvas, furnishing fabrics, linen, needle cord
Gather these supplies:
Fabric:
½ yd. exterior fabric. Canvas or similar weight fabric work best.
½ yd. lining fabric.
Interfacing:
½ yd. style-vil foam interfacing (Vlieseline) or By Annie’s Soft and Stable
Fat Eighth S320 fusible interfacing (Vlieseline) or Pellon Craft Fuse
Everything Else:
1x 12” (#5) metal zipper for the recessed top zipper
1x 7” (#5) metal zipper for the front zipper box pocket
2x rivets to match your zippers and hardware.
1” swivel clip
1” D ring
Something to decorate the zipper pulls. I love thin strips (1/4”) strips of leather or vegan leather (hereafter, leather) for this job.
TIP: you will see in the pattern that my zipper has a little bobble for a zipper pull. In the end I chose to cut this off and replace it with leather to suit the front zipper.
Coordinating threads for all fabrics and trims
Your usual sewing needs including scissors, markers, and extra feet for your sewing machine (zipper foot for example). You know, the usual stuff!
