There are many reasons why people pray and predominantly because we want  answers, so prayer could be easily described as a request to get an answer and  having listened to a good number of people, the following conclusion has been  drawn about why we pray.

We pray to praise God and thank Him and tell Him how much we love  Him.

We pray to enjoy His presence and tell Him what is going on in our lives.

We pray to make requests and seek guidance and ask for wisdom.

God loves this exchange with His children, just as we love the exchange we have  with our children. The fellowship with God is the heart of prayer. Too often we  lose sight of how simple prayer is really supposed to be’.

Prayer resets our hearts and its tendency to stray and be corrupt.  The ultimate purpose of prayer is to worship God.

Prayer must be strategic; Jesus advised his disciples on how to pray. He gave a  model to them and he taught them in parables not because he couldn’t speak in a plain language but he had to communicate in codes.
