Real-Sky Star Lamp - 120 mm + 150 mm pair, real stars, 3D printable
Both sizes of the Real-Sky Star Lamp: 874 stars at 120 mm and 1,589 stars at 150 mm, down to the naked-eye limit.
A sphere pierced by the real stars. Light it from inside and your ceiling becomes the actual night sky, the right way round. Brighter stars, bigger holes. Three parts each (north half, south half, joining ring), no supports.
Print both halves dome-up with the equator on the bed; press the ring inside to join them. 40 mm LED opening at the south celestial pole. Shell 2 mm; smallest holes 1.0 mm, so use a 0.4 mm nozzle or finer, or resin. Use an LED light, not a flame. Personal licence: print for yourself, gifts and classrooms; up to 10 physical prints a year may be sold. Do not re-share the files.
Stars: Yale Bright Star Catalogue, 5th rev. (Hoffleit & Warren 1991), J2000. No constellation art from any planetarium software.
Not test-printed yet: the geometry is checked watertight and manifold by script, but we have not printed it ourselves.
Made with AI assistance: geometry generated by AI-written code from public datasets (credited in each README). Previews are renders of the real files.
