A Hardened Heart - Pharaoh, The Grace of God and The New Heart He Offers

A Hardened Heart: Pharaoh, the Grace of God, and the New Heart He Offers

by Pastor Wm. N. Brooks

What does it really mean for a heart to grow hard — and how far can it go before it's too late? In this compelling study, Pastor Wm. N. Brooks examines one of Scripture's most sobering case studies: Pharaoh, the ruler who witnessed nine undeniable miracles and still refused to yield.

Drawing on the original Hebrew language, this book unpacks three distinct words behind Pharaoh's hardened heart, wrestles honestly with the tension between God's sovereignty and human choice, and traces this same danger into the New Testament — showing that even Jesus' own disciples were not immune. Along the way, readers are met with the comforting truth of 1 John 3:20 and the sober warning of Jeremiah 17:9, that the heart is deceitful above all things.

But this is not a book that leaves you in the weight of warning. It ends where hope begins: with God's own promise in Ezekiel 36:26 — "I will take away the stony heart... and I will give you an heart of flesh" — and the urgent, gracious invitation of Hebrews 3:15: "Today, if ye will hear his voice, harden not your heart."

Complete with a seven-session Lesson Guide for group study and a Scripture Fill-In Study Guide for personal reflection, A Hardened Heart is ideal for individual devotion, small group Bible study, or church-wide teaching — a clear, biblically grounded call to receive the new heart God has always been eager to give.
