The Standards — A Short Story

Some escapes lead to more than just a view.

Craig thought he was done being lectured about "standards" — until

his ex-wife called again, listing off everything a man is supposed

to have before he's worth her time. The irony? The man she actually

chose fell short of every line on that list, and he's now sitting in

a jail cell two thousand years — er, two thousand miles — from where

she's still holding court.

THE STANDARDS is a sharp, intimate short story about hypocrisy,

memory, and the scenes a marriage leaves behind long after the

marriage is over — a near-miss drive to Vegas, a roadside stranger

who might have been an angel, a hot tub overlooking the Strip, and

the parking lot where it all quietly ended.
