• One printable 33-page US Letter PDF
• 23 chapters, clickable contents and 23 chapter bookmarks
• Original generic form/condition illustrations and eight named auction observations
The revised 2026 Edition is a 33-page printable US Letter PDF with 23 chapters, 23 chapter bookmarks and clickable contents. It includes Red Wing company and glaze context, Northeastern maker examples, Edgefield and other Southern attribution cautions, and original generic form and condition illustrations. Maker marks are described in words rather than reproduced as authentication templates.
Read salt, brown slip, Bristol / zinc and alkaline glaze clues alongside form, decoration and the full inscription. Learn why unsigned Red Wing examples can be legitimate, a patent date is not the object's manufacture year, and a number does not always mean gallons. Historic methods and names can also occur on later work.
Eight named Crocker Farm auction observations link directly to their primary lot records. Seven are from 2026 catalogs; one is explicitly dated 2011 and retained as a historic example, not a current price comp. Each shows hammer, stated buyer premium, realized total and relevant condition or attribution limits. These selected results are not typical price ranges, a market survey or fixed damage-discount rules.
The guide also covers repair and damage disclosure, reproductions and later alterations, conservative care, research records, listing descriptions and packing considerations. Phone reading is supported by PDF zoom and chapter navigation. Personal and in-business inventory research / staff training is permitted; file redistribution is not.
Digital download only: one PDF, no physical crock, jug or stoneware. Requires a PDF reader. Included file: MercantileDesk-Stoneware-Crock-Guide-v2026-10-08-d2.pdf.
