These mitts take their name from the cable stitch pattern that adorns the back of the hand. This cable is inspired by the seed heads of kangaroo grass, themeda triandra, a native grass that is widespread across Australia. Deliciously snuggly, these mitts are perfect for foggy mornings, rainy afternoons and dewy evenings to ward away the cold. Themeda mitts are knit in the round seamlessly beginning at the cuff, using your preferred method of small circumference knitting.

These mitts are knit in the round using your preferred method of small circumference knitting. They begin at the cuffs. Increases are used to shape the gusset.

Yarn Requirements:

* Millpost Merino 8ply (100% Superfine Merino; 249228m/100g) - 1 ball

* OR DK/8ply weight yarn of approximately 80/75 (85/75, 90/80, 100/90, 110/100 yards/metres.

Original yarn is a worsted-spun superfine Australian merino that has been grown under permaculture practices. It has a 3 ply structure and a firm spin. The knit fabric is as you would want for a sweater. For firmer knit mitts, size up and knit with a smaller needle size than required for tension.

Yardage is approximate and may vary depending on your knitting style and yarn selection.
