Erlkönig - Percussion Ensemble Arrangement

This is an exciting and challenging arrangement of Franz Schubert's legendary Erlkönig for percussion orchestra. It is written for 20 players (scroll through preview images for full instrumentation) with a wide variety of difficulty among the parts. This arrangement amplifies the raw urgency and power of the original composition, with the large ensemble bringing each character to life while balancing the more delicate sections with unique musical textures. 
The marimba 1 and 2 parts are the only ones that call for 4 mallets, and both players will need to be very strong in their 4 mallet technique. The timpani part contains several tuning changes, all of which are notated in the part. The accessory percussion parts (Percussion 3-6) and some keyboard parts are much more accessible from a difficulty standpoint, so ensembles with a wide range of skill levels will be able to handle this arrangement. However, each player should understand how their instrument represents the characters from the original text. Balancing the ensemble to properly highlight those aspects is crucial!
