Delhi-Chandigarh becomes the country's first E-Vehicle Friendly Highway

New Delhi: The Union government has been pushing for the promotion of electric vehicles in the auto sector for some time now. Taking it a step further, the government has developed the Delhi-Chandigarh Highway as an e-vehicle friendly highway. According to the government, it is the country's first e-vehicle friendly highway. Heavy Industries Minister Mahendra Nath Pandey on Thursday inaugurated a state-of-the-art charging station at Haryana's Karan Lake Resort in a virtual program.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has set up a network of charging stations on this highway under the Fame-1 scheme of the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India. This solar powered charging station can charge all types of e-vehicles (E-Vehicle Friendly Highway) .

On the occasion, Mahendra Nath Pandey said that this would be a very important step towards achieving the targets set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi . He said that the Prime Minister has been constantly emphasizing on the importance of environmental protection in national security and today is a very important day in this direction.

In addition, 19 Charging Stations have been set up on this Delhi-Chandigarh Highway so far . These charging stations have been set up at a distance of 25 to 30 km. The new e-charging station at Karna Lake Resort is located in the middle of the Delhi-Chandigarh Highway.
