Two things reject a South African CV before a person ever reads it. Most templates fix neither.

One: the ATS scrambles it. An Applicant Tracking System reads your CV before a human does. Give it tables, columns or graphics and the parser slices straight across the page. Your job title lands in the wrong place. Your dates disappear. The template looked good in the preview and came out unreadable.

Two: it breaks South African rules. Many corporate HR desks reject a CV with a photo on it, to avoid bias claims. Government posts need a Z83, and an unsigned Z83 is rejected automatically. The version matters: only the current form has been accepted since January 2021.
