The hirisplex system for phenotype prediction has certain weak spots. Because of these weak spots, you sometimes end up with rather absurd phenotype predictions. Hirisplex frequently predicts native americans to have blue eyes, for example: In my previous video I covered a Native Dominican sample that scored blue eyes with hirisplex. In this video, we will examine 3 native american samples that also score blue eyes with hirisplex. Besides hrisiplex’s accuracy there is actually another factor at play - which is the type of genome data that researchers work with. For instance, the DNA analyzed by most scholars, including the raw data used in the ADNX dataset, is likely derived from non-diploid sources, allowing analysis of only a single chromosome copy. In contrast, the data I’m working with is diploid, containing both copies.
