After creating a knit marble fidget bracelet for my son I came up with the idea to use double knitting to make a pocket sized fidget toy. I like the small scale of this project for experimenting with a tubular cast on and tubular bind off while also making a small functional piece.

Test knitting: Norah B., Wendy K., Wendy N-H., Louise R., Amanda U.

YARN
Sample used approximately 4-5 g of a superwash merino and nylon DK weight yarn. A DK weight yarn in wool or synthetic fibers will work. One test knitter made a larger 3” x 4” (7.5 x 10) cm piece with about 10 g of DK weight yarn.

GAUGE
5 sts = 1” (2.5 cm) in double-knit stockinette, measured on one side of fabric

SIZE
Sample shown is approximately 2” (5 cm) square

TOOLS
US 3 (3.25 mm) circular needle, 16” (40 cm) or straight needles
Spare needle in same size
Scissors
Smooth waste yarn
Tapestry needle
1 standard glass marble for each square, 1/2” (13 mm) diameter. Some testers used decorative glass craft beads or flat-bottomed glass drops in lieu of standard marbles.
