Samson Made Simple
Samson — the angel-announced child, the Nazirite set apart from the womb, the Spirit-empowered strongman who tore a lion with his bare hands, struck down a thousand Philistines with a donkey's jawbone, and carried the gates of Gaza away on his shoulders. It is also the story of his ruin: the vineyard strolls, the hidden compromises, the woman in the valley of Sorek who nagged his secret out of him, the shaving, the blindness, the prison mill. And it ends where God's grace always ends: the blind prisoner prays one last prayer, and the temple of the false god Dagon falls on the lords of the Philistines (Judges 13-16).
Samson Made Simple is a Bible-first walk through Judges 13-16 and the theology of consecration: the Nazirite vow, the Holy Spirit as the only source of true strength, the slow leak of compromise, the prison that becomes a classroom, and the final prayer that accomplished more in death than twenty years of victories accomplished in life.
Explicitly Trinitarian: God the Father who raised up Samson as a deliverer before he was born; Jesus Christ — Son of God and Son of Man, Lord and Savior — the true Deliverer of whom Samson was only a shadow, who triumphed through death itself; and the Holy Spirit, whose power alone made Samson strong and whose departure left him helpless. Every prayer is to the Father, through Jesus Christ, by the Holy Spirit. Deliverance comes only through the Spirit's power — never through willpower or man's method alone.
Read one chapter a day. Come honest. Read slowly. Let the Spirit search you.
